Welcome back to my blog, or if you’re new here, welcome to my blog! Seen that we’re four days into July, I thought it’d be a nice idea if I told you what I’ve been up to since my last post and what my plans are for the summer, personally and for my blog.
Where have I been?
Last time I posted I was still revising for my exams, locked out from the real and virtual world. I spent my days studying and barely seeing any sunshine, longing for the moment that this period of hell would finally be over. Luckily, as I’m writing this post, it is. I’m once again free as a bird!
I’ve gotten all of my grades back, and I’m proud to tell you that I passed all of my exams. I’ve officially finished my bachelors degree in Applied Linguistics and will be starting a masters in Translation at the end of September. I’ve proven all of my teachers in high school wrong by finishing this degree without any resits in all these three years. According to them I wouldn’t even make it through my first year, they said I wasn’t made for university. I would be lying if I said that it doesn’t feel good that they were wrong.
What will I be doing?
Believe it or not, but I have ‘big’ plans for this blog. I know I’ve said this before, but this time I mean it. I really want to make this work and become a decent blogger, meaning that I want to be posting regularly and keep up with it. I’m currently trying my hardest to work out a blogging schedule that works for me and that I’ll hopefully be able to keep up with during the academic year too. I hope that if I can get myself into the flow over the summer, that it’ll almost automatically happen during the academic year too.
What I’m trying to plan now is two to three posts a week, on different kinds of subjects. I’m going to try to post on fixed days, like Mondays and Thursdays, for example (this isn’t official yet). I also won’t be fixing a certain subject to a certain day, like e.g. Mondays are for lifestyle. No, I’ve realised that when I want to continue to have fun in writing a blog, I have to write about what I want to write in that specific moment.
On top of that, I’ve got a whole summer of activities planned. I’ll be going to London in August for four days, the Netherlands at the beginning of September for a whole week and then five days of Valencia in the third week of September. When I’m not spending my days abroad, I’m teaching two children Dutch for three hours two times a week and working a few days as well. I would also love to be able to go back to Germany for a day, maybe two during the summer, because I really miss being there. I’m still trying to figure out how I’ll combine all of this with blogging three times a week.
My goals for the Summer
To achieve all of the things mentioned above, I figured it would be a good idea if I specifically wrote them down, in order to keep myself motivated. Here is a list of things I’d like to achieve in the months July and August:
- Lose 5-10 kilos of weight
- Improve my body- and self confidence
- Practise some kind of sport (running or hiking most likely)
- Ride my bike to work more often
- Get back in touch with my friends from Erasmus
- Clean my bedroom
- Declutter my closet
- Become healthier
- Take better care of myself
- Post 2-3 times a week
- Become more active on social media (twitter & instagram mostly)
- Finish the vlogs that still have to be finished
- Reach 150 followers on instagram
- Reach 300 followers on twitter
- Engage more in the blogging community
These might seem like small and way to easy goals for some of you, but a few of these will be really challenging for me, yet I am determined to reach all of these goals by the 31st of August. Stay tuned if you want to know whether I succeed or not!
I hope you enjoyed reading this post, even though it was pretty basic. What are your plans for the summer? Have you got anything exciting coming up? Have you set yourself some goals you want to achieve by the end of the summer? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
Lots of love,
